Recent advances in diabetology: diabetic dermopathy, autoantibodies in the prediction of the development of type 1 diabetes, and islet cell transplantation and inhaled insulin as treatment for diabetes.

This article is the fourth in a series of CPD articles aimed at reviewing the past 2 years of the general medical literature, selecting topics that may be of interest to dermatologists. This issue looks at recent articles on the subject of diabetic dermopathy as well as advances in diabetology including the role of autoantibodies in the prediction of the development of diabetes, the assessment of at-risk individuals, and the use of islet cell transplantation and inhaled insulin in the treatment of diabetes.
